Newspaper Article by "The Fillmore Gazette" Thursday, October 17, 2002:

"Raymond John Thompson, 59, passed away suddenly and went home to our Lord Thursday, October 10, 2002.

Ray was born October 22, 1942 in Vancouver, Canada. He moved to California with his family when he was 10. He graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1960. He spent many years in the entertainment industry as a recording engineer where he worked with some of the top artists. He had accumulated over 50 gold albums. After his second daughter was born Ray became a car salesman. He worked for several different car dealerships, including S. California Auto Group where he worked the longest with his best friend and partner in crime Don Jesu. For the last year he worked at Gold Coast Acura. No matter where he worked Ray was always a bright star in the crowd. He made friends with every employee and every customer because no one could resist his wonderful sense of humor and he was so easy to talk to. He loved betting on horse races and playing golf.

Ray is survived by his sister Joy Dickerson, niece Nancy and family of Laguna Beach; son Michael Thompson, daughter-in-law April and grandchildren Kayleigh and Michael of Fillmore; son Joshua Thompson and granddaughter Maristel of Fillmore; daughter Heidi Keimach and grandchildren Christina, Jonathan, Hilary and Rebecca of Temecula; daughter Leanne Thompson, her fiance Rudy and granddaughter Aliz; his ex-wife Pat Barren and he was also close to many family members of his ex-wife's, including her parents Fred and Virginia Ortiz of Fillmore. He also had many friends and acquaintances who all knew how unforgettable he was.

Ray was preceded in death by his mother Edith Lillian Thompson; father, Sidney Thompson; and brother, Dennis Thompson.

Ray always knew how to make people laugh and he could spark a conversation with anyone and make friends with a stranger in a heartbeat. He was a very gentle and kind father and was one of a kind.
